Or:la

Or:la

Throughout Or:la’s journey as an artist, the Derry-born producer and DJ has consistently strived to escape categorisation, attracting a strong fan base and gaining her a BBC Radio 1 Residency, an Essential mix, and ‘Best DJ’ award from DJ Mag. From running DIY parties in abandoned shops whilst studying in Liverpool, to securing some of the best club residences around the world, Or:la's story is organic and authentic.

Fast forward from her debut EP 'UK Lonely' on Hotflush Recordings in 2017, Or:la has collaborated on a broad range of remixes spanning David Holmes/Killing Eve's "Unloved" to remixes released on more dance floor focused labels like Spray and Woozy in between - all collaborations within her native Irish scene. Staying true to her explorative propensity, Or:la's debut album arrived via fabric Originals as a testament to her ability to fluidly traverse tempos and energies.

As a boss of the former Deep Sea Frequency label and her more recent label venture, Céad, Or:la has nurtured a community of diverse artists who share her passion for uncategorizable dance music including NIKS, Blu Terra, Nikki Nair and FAFF. The label's releases showcase her commitment to quality and creativity, featuring cutting-edge tracks that span a wide sonic spectrum. Or:la takes a similarly chameleonic approach to her DJ sets - although there's an impalpable emphasis on melody, rhythm and texture, you never really know what you might get other than a preference to follow mood over genre. In between all of the above Or:la continues to run her iconic event series ‘La Potion’ which has taken across UK venues like MOT, The Cause and Meraki. Striving to shine a light on queer creatives, these line ups have included party peers like TAAHLIAH, Pariah, Mary Lake and many more. Now based back in the UK, Dooley has become an integral part of the clubbing scene as a promoter and community builder, pouring her heart and soul back into the place where she found her own musical voice.
